Reported on October 26, U.S. compact-metal LPBF maker Xact Metal disclosed record machine orders for Q2 and Q3 2026, with order volume up more than 30% year-over-year through September.
CEO Juan Mario Gomez said the single- and dual-laser XM200G continues to perform strongly in defense, injection molding, and medical markets. The XM200G µHD, shipping since Q3, uses -22 µm metal powder with a 25 µm laser spot, targeting very small parts. Meanwhile, the mid-size XM300G has opened for ordering: a 300×300×300 mm build volume (upgradable to 400 mm height), single- or four-laser 500 W/1,000 W options, a removable build platform, and a starting price around US$200,000, with deliveries expected from mid-2027.
Xact Metal positions itself as lowering the barrier for small and mid-sized manufacturers to enter metal LPBF. With the XM300G, its line now spans the XM200G, XM200G µHD, and a mid-size multi-laser system. Order growth points to accelerating adoption of compact metal powder-bed printing, which in turn drives demand for fine-particle stainless, tool-steel, and titanium powders — with the µHD's -22 µm grade placing stricter demands on particle-size distribution and sphericity.
