Admatec Unveils Admaflex Discovery Upgradeable Desktop Ceramic 3D printer

【AMNews】Admatec Additive Solutions has introduced the Admaflex Discovery, a desktop ceramic additive manufacturing system built for first-time adopters of technical ceramic 3D printing. Priced at $92,500, the machine is targeted primarily at universities and academic institutions, while also delivering entry-level capability suitable for industrial users.

The Discovery shares proven operating fundamentals with Admatec’s established ADMAFLEX 130 evolution platform, carrying over its foil feeding system, material recirculation mechanism, full layer-by-layer process control, and Z-axis Zero Clamping system. The company says the product was developed around direct user feedback, with scalable performance identified as a top priority for teams new to ceramic AM.

A core differentiator of the system is its upgradeable architecture. Users can later expand the unit into a larger, higher-performance configuration that delivers a bigger build envelope, improved projection resolution, and support for dual resolution settings. Once upgraded, the system operates as a fully standalone production unit, ensuring the initial investment retains long-term value as application requirements scale.

Staying true to Admatec’s open materials philosophy, the Discovery works with both the company’s pre-formulated ceramic slurries and user-developed custom materials. Supported feedstocks include alumina (Al₂O₃), silica (SiO₂) and base resins for bespoke formulations, with full user control over all process parameters to enable in-house material development and application-specific workflow optimisation.

The machine runs on the updated Admaflex 3.0 software with a redesigned operator interface, controlled via an integrated 7-inch touchscreen. The full control dashboard can also be accessed remotely from any network-connected PC or laptop – including over Wi-Fi – through a standard web browser, supporting both standalone and networked operation setups.

Beyond traditional ceramic AM markets, Admatec sees strong growth potential for compact desktop ceramic printing in emerging sectors including jewellery, dental manufacturing, and on-site hospital environments, where small-footprint systems can unlock new localised production workflows. The company will back the product with a complete end-to-end ecosystem covering printing hardware, materials and consumables, debinding and sintering solutions, technical support and application engineering expertise.

“With the Discovery, ceramic 3D printing fits on lab and fab benches, and fits a first budget,” said Michiel de Bruijcker, Managing Director of Admatec Additive Solutions. “Because it is upgradeable, customers never outgrow their investment.”

The Admaflex Discovery will make its public debut at this year’s Formnext exhibition.
